SAM Magazine—Hunter, N.Y., June 30, 2026—Chuck Randles SummerChuck Randles has been named as the new vice president and general manager of Hunter Mountain, effective July 15, 2026. He takes over for Trent Poole, who was named as vice president and GM of Heavenly Mountain Resort, Calif., in May after two-and-a-half years at the helm at Hunter.

Randles is a 20-year veteran with Vail Resorts, most recently serving as general manager of Wilmot Mountain, Wis., and regional GM with oversight of Mount Brighton, Mich., Hidden Valley, Mo., and Snow Creek, Mo. He’s held other leadership roles over the course of his career with Vail Resorts, including vacation rental manager at Keystone, Colo., senior director of lodging operations at Park City Mountain, Utah, and senior director of lodging for Vail Resorts’ Lake Tahoe properties in California.

“Chuck is a proven leader with a passion for people, operational excellence, and the guest experience,” said Tim Baker, senior vice president of Vail Resorts’ Regional Destination Resorts. “His ability to build strong teams, foster meaningful community connections, and deliver results makes him the ideal leader to honor Hunter Mountain’s legacy and build on the resort’s strong momentum coming off its most successful season in years.”

Randles is actively engaged in industry leadership and collaboration, currently serving on the boards of the Midwest Ski Areas Association and SOS Outreach. During his time in the Midwest, he played a key role in expanding Epic for Everyone programming, helping to introduce new communities to skiing and snowboarding.

“It is a true honor to join the Hunter Mountain team and to be part of such a storied and respected resort,” said Randles. “I watched the mountain and team thrive through an incredible snow year and high-energy season, and I look forward to working with the team to build on that momentum while supporting the local community and delivering a great experience for our guests.”
