The DC drives of the Vail/Beaver Creek, Colo., lift system were generating significant harmonic currents that were raising hell with the supposedly “clean” power the utility provided to other customers. The harmonic distortion was finally cured with help from Var+Controls, Inc., of Whitmore Lake, Mich. Here’s how all parties concerned reached a solution.
