SAM Magazine—Pittsfield, Mass., May 25, 2018—Berkshire East owners Jon, Jim, and Roy Schaefer have closed on their acquisition of nearby Catamount Ski Area. Total purchase price was $2.3 million, HN catamountsold 53118which includes $1.66 million in outstanding debt.

Catamount has 100 acres of skiable terrain on a 385-acre property that straddles the Massachusetts-New York border. It’s a four-season operation that includes an aerial adventure park with 12 self-guided tree-top courses, including three zip lines. The Schaefers have invested heavily in year-round activities and attractions at Berkshire East, and plan to do the same at Catamount in the next two years.

According to reports, Catamount’s main lodge will be renovated and a new base lodge will be constructed this summer.
