SAM Magazine–October 8, 2009–Boreal’s snowmaking efforts are about to pay off–the Tahoe resort will turn its first lift tomorrow, the earliest opening in the resort’s history. Boreal will also be the first resort to open in California. A quad will operate from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and lift tickets will sell for $15 for kids 12 and under and $30 for anyone 13 and older. The resort will offer one groomed trail and one terrain park with six to ten features. Boreal’s early season operation is tentatively weekends only (Fri/Sat/Sun) until further notice.

Arapahoe Basin, Colo., is joining the early-season ranks by opening its doors Friday, October 9. This will also be the earliest opening for this resort in its history. One lift will open to the public at 9 a.m. and offer an intermediate trail and six terrain park features. While the resort congratulated Loveland for being the first, A-Basin promises to be back in the race next year for first to open.
